Kyle Ellingson is an NYC based illustrator with a keen eye for the absurdities of modern life--the minor indignities of urban living, the unseen minutiae of domestic life, and the trials and travails of the office and workplace politics are all rendered with a light touch and a flair for the little details. His illustrations often seem to start from a mundane premise, exaggerating and extrapolating until a familiar scene becomes something much stranger. Objects, buildings and scenery are often bisected, offering the viewer a voyeuristic glimpse into the unseen inner-workings of a family home, a tree, or a simple pocket watch. Playful and surreal, Ellingson’s work is always eye-catching, with bold splashes of color and style that owes as much to comics as it does to pop-art. You can find his work in publications like The New York Times, NPR, The Washington Post, The New Yorker and more.
