Chinless Wonder - Moon Phaser
Chinless Wonder grew up in a place where soul music simply didn't exist. His introduction to Sam and Dave came later, and from an unlikely direction – a countryside barn in Devon. It blew his mind. He spent the years that followed falling deep into soul, breaks, hip hop and indie acts like The Avalanches and The Go! Team who treat samples as building blocks.
He got a sampler. It sat on a shelf for the best part of a decade, doing absolutely nothing.
It took a pandemic to finally drag it back down. Stuck in a flat with time on his hands and no more excuses, he got back to making music as collage: lounge, exotica, swelling strings, dusty pianos, golden era hip hop, all stitched into something that feels both old and new at once. Collaborations with producer Star Slinger and musician T.hanks followed, each one pulling things in a slightly different direction.
Moon Phaser is his second full album. A jumble of genre-merging melodies that are looking for a home somewhere between your ears. It's warm in there.
