The artist known as Wawa is a multi-hyphenate, cross-disciplinary creator based in Granada, Spain. After thirteen years working as a textile designer in Madrid, WaWa is currently engaged in a variety of commercial projects as an illustrator, graphic artist, and motion animator. A fascination with musicians, popular culture, and kitsch pervades Wawa’s work. While portraits and figures feature prominently, the artist is equally attentive to objects and scenes. The artwork for this volume depicts a commercial strip caught between day and night a la Magritte with a blend of surreal humor and eye-catching detail, a haunted and potentially dangerous landscape (witness the car drowning in a pool of liquid) that nevertheless invites the viewer in with an appealing color palette and multi-dimensional background.
