Visual Artist for Vol. 126: Burst The Bubble

Beya

Bangkok, Thailand

Lamb-like creatures of seemingly alien origin leap off the jacket cover for this volume, emanating from a landscape that is both psychedelic and celestial. A blinding light behind an arched window presides over the scene, an otherworldly space full of geometric architecture and mysterious floating orbs containing bold iconography. Across several panels, artist Beya has created an alternate universe within a gatefold jacket. The interior panels veer towards the cartoonish with graphic presentation and bold colors arrayed according to a hallucinogenic logic. The images are recognizable and evocative of our world but ultimately seem to originate elsewhere.

Beya is a visual artist based in Bangkok, Thailand. Although her primary medium is digital paint, her bold designs and graphic work retain a distinctly handmade touch. Beya’s work encompasses both the mundane and the surreal, embracing the symbolic, the mysterious, and even the spiritual.
